The newly single Paltrow, 41, donated several items from her own closet and shared this photo with her nearly two million Twitter followers yesterday with the caption: “Spring cleaning @goop #goopgiving”

Gwyneth enlisted the help of her famous friends, including Beyoncé, Nicole Richie and Kate Hudson to contribute shoes and clothing to the closet sale, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting DonorsChoose.org. The charity allows public school teachers nationwide to make specific requests for their classrooms and donors get to help fulfill the needs of these students.
Gwyneth, herself a style icon, will not be attending this year’s Met Gala on Monday. Her rep told Threads magazine that “Gwyneth will not be in New York and is unable to attend the ball.”
However, Gwyneth made that abundantly clear after last year’s event, saying “It sucked” and “It’s so hot and it’s so crowded and everyone’s pushing you. I’m never going again.”
