Oprah Winfrey Might Buy the Los Angeles Clippers
Oprah Winfrey is a media mogul, an actress, a philanthropist, an author... And we might soon be able to add baller to that ever-growing list!
That's right! Our favorite woman in the world might be dipping her toes into the NBA pond!
Just a day following Donald Sterling's expulsion from professional basketball and the controversy surrounding his alleged racist comments, Oprah's spokesperson confirms she is "in discussions" to "make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available."
Oprah spoke out about the controversial Clippers owner Tuesday, telling CBS' This Morning, "I'm waiting to see what they're going to do, because something has to be done... It feels like a plantation mentality in the 21st century, [and] in 2014, it just doesn't fit."
Media mogul David Geffen, who's working with Oprah and Oracle/Fortune 500 founder Larry Ellison to buy the team should the NBA's board of governors vote to force Sterling to sell it, told ESPN Winfrey "thinks it would be a great thing for an important black American to own [another] franchise."
Meanwhile, reports have also developed about Magic Johnson, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and even Frankie Muniz expressing interest in buying the team.
