If you expected Sia to make an appearance in her music video for “Chandelier,” you thought wrong. While there is a pencil drawing of Sia on the wall toward the beginning of the video, its star is 11-year-old Maddie Ziegler, of Dance Moms fame.
Ziegler dances in a Sia wig and a nude bodysuit throughout a decrepit apartment in the video. It’s an impressive bit of choreography, if nothing else.
If you’re not familiar with Sia, in addition to being a singer herself, she’s also an accomplished songwriter. Rest assured she’s responsible for at least one of your favorite pop songs. Rihanna‘s “Diamonds,” Beyoncé‘s “Pretty Hurts,” Celine Dion‘s “Loved Me Back to Life” and David Guetta‘s “Titanium” are all hers. In addition to that, Sia’s at least partially responsible for one of the most emotionally devastating moments in television history, the finale of Six Feet Under.
“Chandelier” is the first single off Sia’s 1000 Forms of Fear, Sia’s first album in four years.
