James Franco Slams 'Spring Breakers' Sequel: It "Sounds Lame"
James Franco isn't too thrilled about the Spring Breakers sequel.
Following news that the Harmony Korine party flick will be getting the follow-up treatment, the actor took to -- where else? -- his Instagram to express his disappointment in the upcoming project. Franco, who played the grills-wearing, gun-totting drug dealer Alien in the 2012 film, slammed the producers of the sequel for green-lighting the movie without Korine's permission.
"ALIEN IN REHAB! And BTW F**k that SBers 2 BS, they’re doing it without HARMONY’s CONSENT," he captioned a video himself dressed as his famous character. "Sounds LAME AS A MUTHA!"
Previously, the actor said that the idea of a prequel had been tossed around. He told MTV last September, "When we were making the movie, there was talk of a prequel. My character and Gucci Mane's character were supposed to have been former friends, so we at one time talked about, 'What was that like? Let’s make that movie!'"
According to people behind Spring Breakers: The Second Coming, the new flick will center around what happens when the titular partiers encounter "an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them. The movie " will not [be] a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original."
