Cannes Film Fest 2014 Best and Worst Dressed: Day 1

Fashionably speaking, the Cannes Film Festival is like the Oscars–10 days in a row.  It’s go big or go home!  But when big is done wrong, it’s still go home.

Unfortunately there will always be some of those misses throughout the two-week long festival, but we’ll also be pleasantly surprised by many amazing looks–As proven today during the Opening Ceremony.

While Blake Lively made burgundy look royal on the red carpet, Karlie Kloss looked like she wrapped up in a pair of drapes that were once hanging from her window sill.

BEST DRESSED: Blake Lively

Blake is absolutely stunning in an oxblood, chiffon Gucci gown.  The geometric neckline adds a chic touch to the young actress’ look, while the high slit and open back creates that bit sexiness we love seeing on her.  She accessorizes with a pair of gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz ruby drop earrings and two diamond bracelets.  But my absolute favorite aspect of the look is her long, messy braid, which adds the perfect finishing touch to her overall appearance!

Well done!

With all the good, there’s bound to be a bad egg, and unfortunately for Karlie Kloss, it’s her.

While I totally admire Karlie’s drive to be different in this Valentino tri-color lace gown, it ages her.  She has such a hot, little body, she should be wearing something that shows it off!  But this does it absolutely no justice… Proving sheer isn’t always sexy.

What do you all think about Karlie and Blake’s style from Day 1 of Cannes?  Sound off in the comments below!
