The New 'Interstellar' Trailer Has Landed

Finally we're getting a better look at Interstellar, the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie starring newly-minted Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey alongside Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine and Jessica Chastain.

An initial trailer was released last year, though that was mostly footage of old space missions accompanied by a McConaughey voiceover. Interstellar is a sci-fi movie with elements of time travel and alternate universes, but very little is known about the actual plot. This trailer gives us a little better look at what the film is actually about, though it still keeps much of the film's details under wraps.

What we do learn is that Interstellar takes place, seemingly in the near future, and the Earth is in the midst of a food crisis. McConaughey, who plays an engineer, is selected for a very long space mission, ostensibly to find a new place for the Earth's human population to live. Caine appears to be playing the mission's ground control, but where Chastain and Hathaway fit into that plot is a bit mysterious. Hathaway clearly plays a fellow scientist on the mission, but Chastain is really only seen very briefly in this trailer and I sure hope she has more to do than play the wife missing McConaughey back home.

As it is Nolan's first film since The Dark Knight Rises, anticipation is high for Interstellar, which comes out this November. Clearly the film is relying on a slow roll-out of plot details to tease us leading up to the release.
