Ryan Gosling’s ‘Lost River’ Takes a Beating By Critics in Cannes

The Ryan’s are having a tough time at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival this year.

First, actor Ryan Reynolds film The Captive received boos Friday. Us Weekly subtly referred to as “disastrous.” It was so bad, the magazine reported Reynolds didn’t show up for the afterparty.

Today, Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, Lost River, didn’t fare much better. The film was originally called How to Catch A Monster, stars Christina Hendricks as a single mother who gets “swept into a dark underworld” while her son discovers a road that leads him to an underwater town. Gosling’s girlfriend, Eva Mendes, also appears in the feature, along with former Doctor Who star Matt Smith and Saoirse Ronan.
