George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Are Getting Married at Downton Abbey
Now that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have successfully exchanged vows, we turn our eye to speculation about which castle will host the next Wedding of the Century: that of George Clooney and his fiancée Amal Alamuddin. Today's guess comes courtesy of the Daily Mail, which reports that Clooney and Alamuddin will wed at Highclere Castle near London, where Downton Abbey is filmed.
Clooney reportedly called in a favor with the lord of the manor, Hugh Bonneville himself. In addition to his role on Downton Abbey, Bonneville starred in The Monuments Men, which Clooney directed.
The Mail's source reports that Alamuddin, who is a fan of the show about British secrets and Maggie Smith being catty, was taken with the castle during a tour.
"When he saw his bride-to-be's reaction to the spectacular Victorian castle, set on 1,000 acres of parkland, he began making some discrete inquires about having their wedding performed there. And he was told they would be most happy to accommodate them!"
Clooney and Alamuddin are set to marry in September, the one year anniversary of when they met. Their wedding will be about pledging their eternal love to each other, but also about one-upping Kimye. We sincerely hope that their marriage turns out better than Lady Mary's did.
