Katy Perry Dons Bizarre Cutout Dress First-Ever Global Cover of Cosmopolitan

Pop superstar Katy Perry has scored Cosmopolitan magazine’s first-ever global cover, which means the singer will be gracing the July cover of all of its 62 editions.

There are some very unique fashion choices used for the various covers of the magazine, although the majority of them feature the dress above with the weird cutouts. I’m so confused by that dress.

“Katy’s music and attitude have universal appeal to young women everywhere,” Joanna Coles, editor in chief of Cosmopolitan, says in a statement. “She crosses all cultural boundaries. Her music is soulful and empowering in equal measure. She’s the first Cosmo global icon.”

In her interview with the magazine, Katy dishes on whether she’d ever get back together with ex John Mayer, the longest she’s gone without sex, needing Google rehab, and even not wanting to take the stage following a Beyoncé performance.

Chelsea Handler had this to say to Katy: “You were married to [Russell Brand]. Then you broke up and started dating John Mayer. These are two men that most people would say, ‘If you’re not going to date two people in this world, it should be these two.'”

Katy also has a personal message for her Cosmo fans: “If you’re secretly reading this mag and not really allowed to, don’t worry, I did it too.”

Pick up a copy of the July issue of Cosmopolitan on newsstands June 3rd.
