Brad Pitt Attacked at 'Maleficent' Premiere
Brad Pitt was assaulted on the red carpet last night at the Los Angeles premiere of Maleficent.
The actor, who was signing autographs at the time, was accosted by a man who hopped over a barrier and punched the World War Z star in the face.
The man, identified as Ukrainian "prankster" Vitalii Seduik (the same culprit who attempted to crawl under America Ferrera's dress at the Cannes Film Festival), apparently "jumped over the barricades and made contact with Brad Pitt," Officer Nuria Vanegas of the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Security immediately tackled Seduik and restrained him until police arrived. He was later arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. He is currently being held on $20,00 bail.
Pitt was unharmed and after taking a break to re-group with partner Angelina Jolie, the actor returned to the red carpet but did not speak to the press. A source told Us Weekly, "Nobody saw or heard from Brad and Angelina for about 15 minutes. At 6:45pm Angelina resurfaced and conducted her first interview. Brad walked the carpet without doing any press at all. In fact he moved so fast past the line that most people missed him."
Update at 12:30 p.m. EST: TMZ is reporting that Pitt has filed a temporary emergency restraining order against Sediuk. The prankster is to stay at least 500 feet away from the actor for the next five days. The case has also been sent to the L.A. City Attorney for possible prosecution.
