UNICEF Ambassador Selena Gomez Visits Nepal
Selena Gomez seems to be channeling her personal turmoil into positive energy. The 21-year-old UNICEF ambassador has just returned from Nepal, where she met and interacted with children benefitting from the organization's programs to support education, nutrition, health and protection. The "Slow Down" singer, who has previously embarked on two other UNICEF trips to bring awareness to the plight of children in impoverished nations, appears to have adopted a new path since distancing herself from former friends and one particular ex "Boyfriend." On May 24th, the Wizards of Waverly Place actress shared a spiritual quote ahead of her visit to the South Asian country of Nepal. Gomez, whose previous UNICEF trips took her to Chile and Ghana, said of her Nepal experience: "This visit to Nepal was extraordinarily powerful -- at times, devastating and heartbreaking, but also incredibly inspiring. At first when you witness children living in extreme poverty, you wonder how it is possible that they can be deprived of their basic human needs and rights. Then you talk to these children and you see hope, promise and a bright future." "I'm so proud to serve as a UNICEF Ambassador and be part of a greater movement to help the world’s children," Selena added.
Onward and upward, Selgo!
