Katy Perry Talks Russell Brand and John Mayer, Her Longest Sexual Dry Spell
In her latest interview with Cosmopolitan, in which she covers of all 62 international editions of the magazine, Katy Perry is spilling the beans on her love life and luck with men. According to the "Roar" singer, it's sometimes not very pretty.
"I guess I happen to be attracted to high-frequency men," she tells interviewer Chelsea Handler.
"I carry a lot of rose quartz, which attracts the male," Perry continues, referring to carrying crystals around for their energy. "Maybe I need to calm it down with the amethyst."
"I'm not like Professor Higgins with my sex life," she says, noting that the longest time she has refrained from sex was "maybe six months or a year." She adds, "I'm not super strict. For one, the most important thing about sex is connection."
Regarding her 14-month marriage with Brand, she says, "It feels like a hundred lifetimes ago, so it's like digging up an old grave. A lot of therapy has happened and a lot of understanding and growth. Sometimes you have to go through all this shit to get your grips on life and figure out what the next boundaries in your love life are going to be. You have to go through the mud in order to find that peaceful place. In the long run, it was necessary for me to have more of a teammate."
"I know it sounds really hippie-shit, but I'm living in the now and not fantasizing about the future or [being] torn up about the past," she says of life after Mayer, her last celebrity boyfriend. "I'm super Eckhart Tolle. I have a lot of respect for [John] still, and I know it goes both ways. There's no bad blood, but I'm sure there will be inspired songs."
