Robert Downey Jr.’s Son Indio Arrested for Cocaine Possession
Cops allegedly drove alongside a vehicle in West Hollywood Sunday afternoon (June 29th) when they noticed a passenger smoking something out of a pipe. Indio was in the car, but it’s not known if the 20-year-old musician was the person law enforcement witnessed using drugs.
An L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy pulled the car over, performed a search and found cocaine in Indio’s possession. He was arrested, but posted his $10,000 bail and was released just after midnight on Sunday.
Indio’s dad, Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. battled a cocaine and heroin addiction before getting sober in 2003.
The 49-year-old Oscar-nominated actor released the following statement regarding his son’s arrest: “Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”
