Kim Kardashian: "It Is a Struggle" to Be Taken Seriously as a Businesswoman
Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian may be raking in millions from their growing empire, but the sisters still have a tough time being taken seriously as entrepreneurs.
Appearing on CNBC's Closing Bell, the three sisters opened up about the struggles as businesswomen who got their start off reality television.
"It is a struggle," Kim said. "We started off opening up our Dash clothing store over a decade ago, and that's where we really started off in fashion. We've always been really hard-working girls, and we were fortunate enough to have a TV show."
"I think when you do have a reality show, people assume that it's just a ton of bar fights and it has this negative connotation. In actuality, we definitely do fight and we're really honest and open with our family life." she explained. "We pride ourselves in doing that, but I think you can be both … There are so many grounds that we want to cross. People think that you can't really be both at the same time, but we do our best to kind of break that."
As mothers, Kim and Kourtney also spoke about the difficulties balancing family time with a career.
"It could get tough after you have a baby," Kim admitted. "There [have been] so many times when I just didn't wanted to get up and work on something ... I just wanted to be home with my baby, but for me, I think I can speak for my sisters, it makes us feel good when we are out working."
"You know, now that I'm married," she continued. "I would so much rather spend time with my husband, my family, and my baby, than run around the world working for other people."
Kourtney added, "I think my biggest struggle as a mom has been balancing the two. But I do think it's possible. I just think it's like you feel guilty. You have to balance. to find that balance. I used to feel so guilty every time I left ... but there is no cookie cutter way."
