'Ladies of London' Star Caroline Stanbury Talks Snooki, Etiquette and Fishwives... Oh My!
If you're not a Ladies of London fan, it's about time you tune in... If for no other reason than to learn a thing or two about how to be a real lady (according to British standards) and to catch some hilarious British-American drama.
I had the opportunity of sitting down with the lady of all ladies Caroline Stanbury--the fan favorite of the show--who talked to me about everything from the cultural differences between American and British women to mingling with royals to crowning Snooki the worst potential Brit in the world.
We also got to chatting about how, in the last episode, she took two of the American girls Juliet Angus and Noelle Reno to an etiquette class to teach them a few key lessons about fitting in better with London's upper class. So, of course, I had Caroline give me a little etiquette lesson I can share with all of you, too (in hopes that one day we'll have our own Kate Middleton-esq story and know precisely how to fit in with the royals).
Finally, I needed to find out a little bit more about the lingo in England. I hear the London-raised women on the show use phrases like "knickers in a twist," "cow" and "fishwife." I've never heard any of these terms before, so I asked Caroline to help break them down for us. In fact, I was completely caught off guard by the phrase "fanny" which has an entirely different meaning in Britain than it does in the US (beware!).
You can get to know Caroline a little bit more by checking out her website The Gift Library and make sure to catch the season finale of Ladies of London tonight at 10/9c on Bravo!
