Former 'American Idol' Hopeful Michael Johns Has Passed Away
Johns, who was born in Australia and competed on the 7th season of Idol back in 2008, died on Friday. It's believed that a blood clot in his ankle may have been to blame. TMZ is reporting that a rep for Johns' fan site confirmed the news on Twitter, saying "It is with a heavy heart and inconsolable sadness that we confirm the passing of our friend Michael Johns."
Michael finished 8th on the reality competition, ultimately losing the top prize to David Cook. Even so, he went on to record an album in 2009, Hold Back My Heart, and was apparently working on a follow-up as recently as July 10th.
