ScarJo-lene? Dolly Parton Wants Scarlett Johansson to Play Her in Biopic
Will Scarlett Johansson be working 9 to 5 soon?
According to Star magazine, the 68-year-old "Coat of Many Colors" crooner is leaning towards Johansson, but would "consider Kristin Chenoweth or even Jessica Simpson."
The one person allegedly vying for the role the hardest is Miley Cyrus, 21.
However, Parton, who is Miley's godmother, doesn't think the "Wrecking Ball" singer can pull it off. A source told the mag, "Miley is bugging Dolly for the role," and has been bombarding her with audition tapes.
Miley performs "Jolene" during her MTV Unplugged special in February 2014.
While it's obvious (see above video) Miley can carry a tune, the insider tells Star that Dolly feels the "movie is her legacy. " She reportedly told her goddaughter that "she doesn't have the acting chops to pull it off."
ScarJo, on the other hand, has been nominated for four Golden Globes and even won a Tony Award or her performance in the 2010 production of Arthur Miller's play A View from the Bridge.
The Under the Skin star, who is currently pregnant with her first child, has also tried her hand at singing. She released a solo album in 2008, followed by a collaboration with recording artist Pete Yorn in 2009. Both albums received mixed reviews.
The 29-year-old Avengers actress does seem to be a good choice to play the vivacious and charismatic singer: she can act, sing and well, let's face it, fill out the bedazzled bustline.
Who do you think should play Dolly Parton?
