So, when it came time to answering the tough questions about her official exit in the coming week, the late night talk show host made no attempts to hide why she was quitting her job after seven years of service. And yes, her reason had to do with the channel’s golden children: the Kardashians.
She mused, “Wouldn’t it be amazing, though, if I did leave and then the whole Kardashian empire just crumbled. In some stroke of crazy irony and happenstance, all of a sudden they just fell apart and then I was a national hero.”
And this wasn’t the first time Handler mentioned Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and the whole Keeping Up Up with Kardashians gang as the reason for her leaving. In June, the 39-year-old said she “didn’t feel great” about getting mixed up into their business.
“I think if you participate in the celebrity world then you don’t really have a choice but to be involved in the drama,” told MailOnline. “You end up getting so into the mix that it changes the topics of the day. You can sit around and complain about all that shit and the Kardashians all day but if you’re participating in it then what can you do? It really didn’t feel great doing the show and the only way to sort things out was to extricate myself from the entire situation.”
Once after her contract expires, the comedienne will take her talents to Netflix for the streaming service’s first-ever talk show.
