Miley Cyrus' Homeless MTV VMAs Date Has a Warrant Out for His Arrest
The man who accompanied Miley Cyrus to the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards -- and then accepted her award for Video of the Year -- is in hot water with the police.
According to law enforcement officials, Jesse Helt, who Cyrus brought to Sunday night's awards ceremony, has a warrant out for his arrest in Salem, Ore.
Before meeting Cyrus, Helt was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief for a 2010 incident when he attempted to break into a residence in Oregon. He then repeatedly violated his probation after failing to take a drug test, report to his probation officer, breaching his curfew, and not finishing his community service hours.
On Sunday, Cyrus told Celebuzz she brought Helt to the award ceremony because she realized that the show would be a great platform to raise awareness for My Friend's Place, a homeless shelter for youths in Hollywood.
"I kept explaining to people that I didn't understand my power until last year, and now I understand how many people listen when I speak," she said, adding that Helt is "the shit."
