NYFW Spring ’15 Resort: Meskita Puts on Dazzling Egypt-Inspired Show

Celebs at NYFW Fall 2013

Just when we were starting to feel grateful for the approach of fall weather, up-and-coming label Meskita made us wish summer would never end during a dazzling resort show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

America’s favorite fashion expert and former Queer Eye guru Carson Kressley was in attendance last night as the Brazilian designer showcased her Egyptian-inspired collection.

And oh, what a collection. Models nearly floated by in mini dresses, gowns and cover-ups that went for the gold – literally. Shimmering metallics, gold hardware accents and a color palette reminiscent of deserts and oases dominated the runway.

Why now, Meskita, why now? Just when I was dreaming of wool overcoats, you inundated my vision with luminous, expertly pleated silk that flowed behind models like streams of champagne. Back-baring dresses and loose crochet details made me second-guess my desire to hide underneath chunky sweaters.

It’s no wonder that back in May, fellow Brazilian and expert bikini wearer Alessandra Ambrosio rocked a Meskita two-piece on her Instagram. In the designer’s own words, her line exists “to make consumers feel confident, sexy and glamorous” – all synonyms for the Victoria’s Secret Angel.

You can catch show’s final walk here (instead of slinking back one by one, the models all strutted down the runway together in a pyramid formation and the result was absolutely fierce).
