Rihanna Tells CBS ‘F— You’ For Postponing ‘Thursday Night Football’ Performance

UPDATE at 11:33 a.m. EST: CBS has just announced that Rihanna’s Thursday Night Football introduction will be replaced completely, not postponed as the singer tweeted. CBS Sports will be “moving in a new direction” starting this Thursday, opting for a newly created theme song to open the show.

After having her performance of “Run This Town” yanked away from Thursday Night Football at the last minute, Rihanna has broken her silence.

In under 140 characters, she vented her frustrations with an expletive directed towards CBS.

Earlier today, the pop star set out to shame the network for postponing her performance to this Thursday. Her segment was not aired as planned last week, after the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal made waves throughout the media.

“We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone coverage,” a CBS Sports Chairman explained. Translation: “The NFL royally screwed up its handling of the Ray Rice matter, so we can’t risk making things worse by featuring an artist who was also once at the center of a domestic abuse scandal.”

In place of its “Run This Town” introduction, the network began the show with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s commentary on the Rice incident. The singer, however, is still clearly disappointed.
