‘Big Eyes’ Trailer: Amy Adams Just Wants Some Credit for Her Art

Here’s your first look at the new Tim Burton film Big Eyes, which in many ways, is a very nontraditional Tim Burton film.

The main reason: the film’s based on the true story of Walter Keane, who in the ‘50s and ’60s, apparently took credit for his wife Margaret’s paintings, which featured big-eyed children. The paintings made Walter famous and served as one of the reasons the couple duked it out in divorce proceedings — at the federal level.

Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams play the Keanes, with Krysten Ritter, Danny Huston, Jason Schwartzman and Terence Stamp in supporting roles.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds were originally attached to the project for the lead roles, with Burton serving only as producer. If the trailer is any indication, it looks like Burton made the right move.

Big Eyes is slated for a Christmas Day 2014 release through The Weinstein Company.
