Jessica Simpson Still Felt Like a Sex Symbol Despite Weight Criticism

Jessica Simpson was one of the most heavily criticized celebrities when it came to weight gain, but she doesn’t let it get her down.

The 34-year-old mother of two maintained her dignity and has become an inspiration for all women, especially now that she’s happier and healthier than ever.

But even when she was what the world depicted as “overweight,” she still felt sexy.

“It wasn’t really my priority to please the public and make them feel like I’m supposed to be looking like I did when I was 25,” she explained during an appearance on the Today Show.

When host Matt Lauer asked whether there was an added pressure to lose the weight because of her status as a “sex symbol” to the public, she quickly retorted that she never lost that label.

“I don’t think that I wasn’t still a sex symbol.  To my husband, I was still extremely sexy.”

However, she added, “I’m not saying [the criticism] didn’t hurt.  I have feelings and hormones.  I got emotional about it at times, but if anything I just kind of wanted to be a champion for other women and say, ‘We can do this.'”

She says the negative comments about her post-baby weight only “empowered me to rise above and stand up for all women out there that do have trouble losing the weight.”

And now that Jessica recently reached her goal weight she says she’s feeling happier than ever.  “I just feel more comfortable in my skin,” she revealed.
