Kathy Griffin Denies Replacing Joan Rivers on ‘Fashion Police’ Rumors

Joan Rivers planned her own lavish funeral.
Kathy Griffin isn’t moving on from the D-list just yet.

Despite reports claiming the comedienne is “serious contention” to replace the late Joan Rivers on Fashion Police, the funnywoman says she has not been in talks with E! to discuss the empty seat left behind by her friend.

“Just 2 clarify. I have not contacted E! & they have not contacted me,” she tweeted Wednesday night.

Previously, a source told The Daily Mail that Griffin, 53, would likely be the candidate chosen as the new host as Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter and the show’s producer, reportedly wanted comedian her mother liked. Currently, the remaining three co-hosts — Kelly OsbourneGiuliana Rancic, and George Kotsiopoulos – are slated to return to the show in January after the series’ hiatus.

“Kathy has been told if she wants the gig she can have it because Melissa wanted someone who her mother would have approved of,” the source said. “Kathy will probably take the position but they are still working out the deal.”

However, this isn’t the first time Griffin’s name was thrown into the Fashion Police ring. When Joan was still under a medically-induced coma, Griffin denied rumors that she was gunning for the 81-year-old’s position, saying at the time that she “would never take Joan’s job.”

“It’’ not true … I thought I’d heard it all, but that [rumor] hurts because it’s as far from the truth as you can get,” Griffin said at the time.
