Wedding bells won’t be in the near future of Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff. Well, unless law makers make same-sex marriages legal across the United States, that is.

Calling her fun. beau her “life partner,” the Girls star has stated that they won’t be heading down the aisle until gay couples have the same rights. So far, 19 states that have legalized gay marriage.

“We’re not against marriage but I wanna wait until it’s something — my sister’s gay and it just doesn’t feel good to me to do something she can’t do,” Dunham says on Howard Stern’s radio show. “She can do it in some places but not all places.”

In the past, celebrity duos Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have also expressed such views. However, both couples have since officially wed.

Though Dunham, 28, and Antonoff, 30, are putting their martial plans on the back burner, the couple of two-years are still living in domestic bliss. Explaining that the twosome have recently moved in together, the actress says both of them like to create art in their shared apartment — even if their busy schedules don’t always allow them to be together.

“There’s a room in our house where he goes and makes music. We were living in a studio apartment when I wrote the book and he made his album,” Dunham says of Antonoff’s Bleachers record. “He goes into a room and doodles around on a keyboard and comes out and made magical things.”

“We met and the day after we were apart for three months and so our relationship was sort of formed long distance, like that’s what I became used to,” she continues. “But now, for the most part, we see each other … we try not to be apart for more than a week or two.”
