Though stars like Emma Watson and Taylor Swift are trying to breathe new life into feminism by bringing light to the gender inequality that still plagues society today, Miley Cyrus is off somewhere on Instagram calling Katy Perry a “slut” because LOLZ #WCW #TBT.

For her Woman Crush Wednesday, Cyrus decided to throw some shade back to the time she violated Perry’s personal space gave Perry a surprise kiss during her Bangerz Tour concert. Sharing a photo of their makeout session, Cyrus wrote, “Wcw is this slut @katyperry /tbt (not on t) to that time we made out during my #bangerztour.”

Um, can anyone see the problem here?

Though the “Wrecking Ball” singer was probably trying to use the word “slut” in an endearing way, it nonetheless proved her ignorance in how using defamatory language towards another female may be not the best thing to do in a day and age where women everywhere are still struggling to be taken seriously. Did she not learn anything from Mean Girls? Did she not pay attention to Tina Fey when she said, “You’ve got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores.”

This whole situation was made even more uncomfortable when you remember that Perry actually pulled away from Cyrus when she tried to stick her tongue down her mouth.

“I just walked up to her to give her like a friendly girly kiss, you know, as girls do, and then she like tried to move her head and go deeper and I pulled away,” Perry recalled of the situation at the time. “God knows where that tongue has been.”

Needless to say, Cyrus has since deleted the offending caption off Instagram (presumably after receiving much side-eyeing from the world).
