In what could easily be the most controversial and revealing interview of her career, Raven-Symoné opened up for Oprah: Where are They Now?

The former child star and Disney actress confronted rumors about her sexuality, and told Oprah why she rejects the label “African American.”

First up: her sexual identity. Oprah asked about the now-famous tweet in which the actress seemingly came out. After the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, Raven shared her joy with her followers.

“That was my way of saying I’m proud of the country. But, I will say that I’m in an amazing, happy relationship with my partner. A woman,” she explained. Raven is rumored to be dating AzMarie Livingston, a former Top Model contestant.

Raven also shared that she realized her interest in women at age 12. However, the funnywoman added, “I don’t want to be labeled ‘gay.’ I want to be labeled ‘a human who loves humans.'”

“I’m tired of being labeled,” she continued. “I’m an American. I’m not an African American; I’m an American…and that’s a colorless person…I don’t label myself…I connect with Caucasian. I connect with Asian. I connect with Black. I connect with Indian. I connect with each culture.”

“Oh girl, don’t set up Twitter on fire,” Oprah interjected. Indeed, the 28-year-old actress has already made waves with her comments: “Raven Symone” is currently trending on Twitter.
