‘Twin Peaks’ Will Return in 2016

“It is happening again.” And with that phrase — which will be familiar to any fan of the cult TV series — it became official: David Lynch and Mark Frost are bringing Twin Peaks back to television.

In 2016, Showtime will air a nine-episode, limited-run series of all-new Twin Peaks episodes, each of which will be written and produced by original series creators Lynch and Frost. Lynch is also said to be directing all nine episodes.

Both Lynch and Frost tweeted a link to the teaser trailer, above, as confirmation. This comes nearly a week after both Twitter-teased followers: “That gum you like is going to come back in style.”

Deadline reports that the new series will be set in the present day and will seek to address some of the questions left with viewers after the second season (series) finale. No cast announcements have been made.
