American Music Awards 2014: Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry and Pharrell Lead Nominations

Iggy Azalea is the artist to beat at this year’s American Music Awards. The nominations were just announced this morning and the “Fancy” singer is on top with a whopping six nominations, including Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

Right behind Iggy is a trio of artists with five nominations each: Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and John Legend, who are also up for AOTY.

Making her AMA debut is Lorde, who has four nominations to her name. Other members to the first-timers club include Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, Bastille and Meghan Trainor.

Queen Beyoncé, who already has nine AMA trophies, is nominated for three awards this year, including Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B.
