Ezra Miller Cast as ‘The Flash’, Becomes First Openly Queer Actor to Play DC Comics Superhero

Not to be confused with Grant Gustin’s CW version of The Flash, Ezra Miller will play The Flash on the big screen in 2018.

One of the stars of The Perks of Being a Wallflower will play the Flash in both a Justice League movie and his own standalone film.

It’s also a big deal because Miller identifies as “queer” — he’s the first actor cast as a major superhero to do so. Justice League Part One will come out in 2017, with The Flash arriving in 2018.

As for Miller, he’s a pretty interesting choice to play Barry Allen. The actor is known for much smaller, darker roles. He’s also an immensely talented actor.

Warner Bros. also confirmed that Jason Momoa will be playing Aquaman as well, plus a new Green Lantern movie in 2020. WB also revealed that there will be a solo Wonder Woman movie released in 2017, which will most likely be another first, making Gal Gadot the first female superhero to see the big screen in a solo film.
