Everyone’s New Favorite Band Sheppard Talks Music Style, Reveals Dream Collaborations
The Australian band’s single “Geronimo” is climbing the music charts and everyone who hears the song is instantly addicted. Sheppard just performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, a huge milestone for any band. We were lucky enough to talk to the band about getting their start in music and they even revealed their dream collaborations. Check out what they had to say in the interview below!
Sheppard is comprised of siblings Amy, George and Emma Sheppard, as well as their friends Jason Bovino, Michael Butler and Dean Gordon. When we sat down with Amy, George, Emma and Jason, we asked them all about how they get started in music.
Did they always want to be in a band? “Yeah we did,” Amy revealed. “I started writing music when I was about 12, it was always a dream of mine. So it’s been really funny watching it grown since then. It wasn’t until I left school and went to Uni (University) and I was doing a music course, and one of my assignments was to write a song and record it. So I did it and it was really boring so I grabbed George to do harmonies, and ever since then we’ve been writing. Then we met Jay, who had also been writing since 12 or 10 or something, and he was just the greatest guitarist.”
How would they describe their sound? George told us, “I think it’s fun, it’s energetic, it’s colorful, eclectic. I think it’s eclectic, because you know the album has all of these different styles and genres on it. It’s all essentially pop music, but they’re all different styles of pop music, so it’s like folk pop, rock pop, electric pop, jazz pop.”
