Watch: Lorde’s Enchanting Video for Hunger Games Song ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’

First Movie Clip!
The first clip from Hunger Games, Mockingjay Part 1 has all the feels.
Lorde’s video for her Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I song, “Yellow Flicker Beat”, is here!

And the singer goes the full dark in ways she hasn’t before.

This video is definitely more eerie than past videos for “Royals” or “Team“, but perhaps is one of her most dynamic and revealing.

The songstress, who turns 18 tomorrow, starts off the video chanting as she sits alone in a darkened room, lit only by neon lights. From there, we’re taken on a journey by an elegant looking Lorde throughout the video. Her style is on point, and the locations are diverse and interesting; what could be better?

Lorde tries out a new pompadour hairstyle in the first scene, then goes to wearing an awesome red pantsuit as she walks alone down a foggy road, and later exhibits a glamorous look at fancy, ’20’s era cocktail party (where she, of course, falls into a dark abyss). Then there’s Lorde’s quintessential dancing amidst an all black background.

Although there’s nothing really Hunger Games related, “Yellow Flicker Beat” is a great track and a dreamy video.

On her Tumblr, Lorde wrote, “it’s my first offering from what i hope will be a soundtrack you love. it’s my attempt at getting inside her head, katniss’. i hope you like it.”

“Yellow Flicker Beat” is the first of Lorde’s songs off the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I soundtrack (which Lorde is also curating). It will also feature Charli XCX, the Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Grace Jones, Ariana Grande and Tinashe.

Mockingjay Part I comes out in theaters on November 21st.
