Harry Styles Explains How He Feels About Being the Subject of Taylor Swift’s Songs
Host Ben Winston–a close friend of the boy band and producer of One Direction: This Is Us–asked Styles upfront how he feels about the T. Swift lyrics that are directed at him.
“I think we always say, when we wrote the album, that we write from personal experiences. So it would be hypocritical of us to be like “oh you can’t write a song,'” explained the 22-year-old in a very classy and honest demeanor.
“She’s really good, so they’re good songs. So I’m really lucky in that sense,” he says, surprisingly all of us with his very rational response.
However, Taylor explained on Good Morning America recently that she tried to steer clear of writing about ex-boyfriends this time around.
“You have more and more people paying attention to what you’re doing and you’ve been doing it the same way your entire career as a songwriter… So they use kind of you writing songs about your life as a way to play detective and for me I have a really strict personal policy that I never name names, so anybody saying that a song is about a specific person is purely speculating.”
