‘Suicide Squad’ Cast Announced: Jared Leto to Play The Joker, Margot Robbie Is Harley Quinn
The primary cast in Warner Bros.’ forthcoming flick, Suicide Squad has been chosen. According to the announcement made on Tuesday, Jared Leto, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevingne will take on roles as DC Comics’ most famous bad guys (and girls) in the high-profile flick
Based on the comic book of the same name, Suicide Squad centers around the team of supervillains who, in an attempt to redeem themselves, are tasked with a kamikaze mission by the government.
The official cast and character list is as follows:
- Jared Leto as The Joker
- Will Smith as Deadshot
- Tom Hardy as Rick Flag
- Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
- Jai Courtney as Boomerang
- Cara Delevingne as Enchantress
Slated for an Aug. 5, 2016 release, the comic book movie will be directed by David Ayer. Filming is said to begin next April in Toronto.
According to insiders, Jesse Eisenberg is in talks to play Superman villain Lex Luthor in the film. Meanwhile, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and Oprah Winfrey are being eyed for the role of Amanda Waller, the character who oversees the team similar to Nick Fury in Marvel’s The Avengers.
