Angelina Jolie has the Chicken Pox

Angie to Retire?
Angelina Jolie hints at retirement.
It’s been a tough week for poor Angelina Jolie… And to top it off, she’s somehow obtained the chicken pox (I know, it’s hard to envision someone as perfect as Angie with the pox, right?!).

Yes, the 39-year-old mother of six has come down with the bumps (likely obtained from one of the kids) and was forced to cancel her appearances on Friday for the film she directed Unbroken.

The actress released a YouTube video (see above) apologizing for her absence, laughing because she simply “can’t believe it.”

Jolie also released a statement saying, “You have to laugh at the timing.  I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken. I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with [real-life hero Louie Zamperini’s] family, Phil’s daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming.”

In conjuction with Jolie’s, Universal Pictures also released a statement: “Angelina Jolie will be withdrawing from public events scheduled over the coming days due to a mild bout of chicken pox. She intends to resume her schedule and press engagements at the earliest opportunity. We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres.”

The chicken pox are just part of a series of unfortunate events the actress has faced this week.  Just two days ago emails between Sony executives were leaked in which Scott Rudin labeled Jolie as a “minimally talented spoiled brat.”
