Watch: Martin Freeman Brings the Laughs to Middle-Earth and ‘The Office’ on ‘Saturday Night Live’

'THE HOBBIT' DOES BATTLE
Watch the epic final trailer for 'The Battle of Five Armies'.
Martin Freeman had the pleasure of hosting Saturday Night Live’s last show of the year and, if you enjoy awkward, sexually driven English humor, you’re in the right place for quite a few LOL’s.

And even though the show had a rough start, the star of The Hobbit, Fargo and Sherlock took the show to school with the best dry humor he had to offer. Here’s what you missed:

MONOLOGUE:

Martin got the show started by getting used to the cheers of the crowd and reminding us all of his impressive catalogue of work. This clip is worth watching, though, entirely for Kate McKinnon as Maggie Smith in some seriously formal pajamas.

BEST SKETCHES OF THE NIGHT:

WEEKEND UPDATE:

There was no way the boys of Weekend Update could compete with Shasheer Zamata and her view about a lack of equal opportunity emoji icons.

WORST SKETCH OF THE NIGHT:

Sometimes the host of the show gets lost in a terrible sketch as a supporting player. Well, Martin wasn’t immune when he got stuck in that awful Kenny G wig.

MUSICAL GUEST:

Charli XCX hit the stage in studio 8h with all the sex appeal and confidence she could muster for an impressive performance of her hit “Boom Clap.”

DIGITAL SHORT:

Good news for all you naughty rule breakers out there! Thanks to a disgruntled former elf, it looks like everybody is getting a pile of cash for Christmas.
