Miley Cyrus Helped Jessie J Pay Rent for Three Years

Good news! Jessie J says 'Boy is Mine' remake with Ariana Grande is NOT happening
Is it time to consider a career change into songwriting? Because oh my, are the royalties lucrative!

Jessie J revealed that penning the infamous 2009 Miley Cyrus pop song “Party in the U.S.A.” brought in the dough for at least 3 years!

The 26-year-old told Glamour that “You’ve got to write songs, that’s where the money is, being an artist. Party in the USA paid my rent for, like, three years.”

She added, “Actually it was longer than that. That’s where I get most of my money.  I write songs.  I’m a singer.  I love doing endorsements and stuff, but that’s all added on.”

Jessie J also opened up to the magazine about the conventional songs released by female artists, saying “All women are saying, singing and speaking about the same thing, but in their own way – love, heartbreak, reassurance, sexiness, belief, how we look, how we feel. We’re all singing about it and doing it.”

The singer has her own hit song “Bang Bang”, about which she candidly said “One of the biggest things that I’ve wanted to achieve in my life is standing the test of time, and I feel like Bang Bang’s going to do that.”

Having written songs for artists like Miley Cyrus and also Chris Brown, Jessie J says songwriting is a funny process.

“You know what’s more weird though, is that you’re not actually there when they record it,” she explained. “I recorded ‘Party In The U.S.A.,’ played it for the label but they didn’t think it was right for me. So they pitched it and two weeks later it was number one in six countries.”

Regardless, that was the song catapulting Cyrus from Hannah Montana to an official pop star – so we’re happy to hear Jessie J made the mega-bucks.
