According to the Cake actress, who is currently engaged to The Leftovers star Justin Theroux, there has been only one other man in her life that could have been “the one” had their relationship had not come to a tragic end. (And no, his name does not rhyme with Rad Mitt.)
“He was my first love — five years we were together,” she says, referring an unnamed boyfriend who later died of a brain tumor. “He would have been the one. But I was 25, and I was stupid. He must have sent me Justin to make up for it all.”for over two years and counting, the bride-to-be explains she’s not rushing down the aisle because the couple are still trying to figure out what type of ceremony to have. Furthermore, she adds that she sometimes find it annoying to answer to the question of why she hasn’t wed just yet.
“You don’t see a lot of men getting asked: ‘Why aren’t you married? Why aren’t you having children?’ You don’t get the ‘Well, they seem to play the same thing over and over again,’ and some of them do,” Aniston notes.
“We’re very much a sexist society,” she adds. “Women are still not paid as much as men.”
So what’s a girl in Hollywood to do? According to Aniston, actresses like herself struggle with public perception everyday.
“I really do think you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t,” she says when the subject of Renée Zellweger‘s new look is brought into conversation. “You either are too fat — ‘Oh my God, she’s gained weight, getting chubby, mid-40s spread!’ — or ‘She’s so skeletal, get some meat on her bones!’ I’ve been on too-thin lists. I’ve been on what-happened-to-her lists.”
