Re-wearing his tux from his wedding to Amal Alamuddin at Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, former bachelor George Clooney accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award and made the most perfect thank you speech ever.

He spoke about his deep love for Amal, reminded the world to support independent films, and paid tribute to late actor Robin Williams and the journalists killed at Charlie Hedbo in Paris.

The charming actor kept his speech short and sweet, and was visibly honored by the award, saying “Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. You’ve always been very kind to me. And thank you for keeping small films alive. Big ones do fine. It’s the little ones that need an audience.”

Quoting Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society, George said, “I have no idea what kind of hardware Robin Williams took home. But I sure do remember ‘Carpe Diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary,’. I’ll never forget that.”

Acknowledging his new wife Amal, George made his love for her no mystery, saying

It’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love. Even better if you’ve been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years…Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.

Paying tribute to Charlie Hedbo millions of people who marched in support of the journalists who died, he said “They didn’t march in protest. They marched in support of the idea that we will not walk in fear. We won’t do it. So, je suis Charlie.”
