Funny enough, though, the alt-rock award winner himself wasn’t actually all that worried about West coming on stage — in fact, he was actually kind of stoked about it!
“I was just so excited he was coming up,” Beck told US Weekly during the Universal Music Group after-party. “[West] deserves to be onstage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?”
The 44-year-old wasn’t even offended that Kanye suggested he didn’t deserve the award over Beyoncé.
“I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyoncé! … You can’t please everybody, man. I still love [West] and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.”
However, several other celebrities weren’t as complimentary toward West’s controversial rant, taking to Twitter to share their own reactions:
