Brian Williams has had a rough go of it recently.

After being caught out embellishing a story about coming under fire in a helicopter in Iraq, the NBC news anchor was forced to take time himself off the air after fears the viewers’ trust in him had been lost.

Now more statements made by the suspended anchor are being questioned, including anecdotes about watching the fall of the Berlin Wall and being embedded with the Navy SEALs team that killed Osama Bin Laden.

His daughter Allison Williams, one of the stars of HBO’s hit show Girls, finally spoke out on the scandal during a Q&A at New York’s 92Y.

According to the New York Post, Williams told event moderator and Late Night host Seth Myers that her father is “an honest man, a truthful man,” and “I know you can trust him.”

This is what Williams had to say:

“This has been a really hard time,” she began when Meyers asked how her family is doing. “Obviously [it’s] toughest on my dad who is sort of bearing the full burden of the responsibility for it, but my mom has been so strong and my brother has been amazing. My dad has always been there for us a 100-percent of the time… so to be here for him is the least we can do.”

She said despite Williams’ admission he was untruthful about being fired at in Iraq in 2003, “One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He’s a really good man, an honest man, a truthful man — he has so much integrity and so much respect for journalism. And yes he’s a really good dad. I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I’ve tested him on that.”

Earlier in the evening at the Michael Kors fashion show, The Post reported that she said nothing regarding her father while at that engagement.
