She’s alive people! Rumors of Beyoncé‘s alleged death gained traction on Sunday (Feb. 22, 2015) after an R.I.P. Beyoncé Facebook page attracted nearly one million likes.
On the “About” page of the Facebook page, a believable account of the American singer’s passing was given:
At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday (February 22, 2015), our beloved singer Beyoncé passed away. Beyoncé was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.
Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 33-year-old singer, actress and dancer was dead.
This spilled over on to Twitter yesterday (Feb. 23, 2015), when #RIPBeyonce began trending after a purported CNN article announcing Beyoncé’s supposed death began circulating on Twitter.
Making matters worse, a @CnnNewsFacts Twitter account, that is NOT associated with the network, also tweeted, “BREAKING NEWS: BEYONCE WAS INVOLVED IN A HORRIFIC CAR CRASH! #RIPBeyonce.”
The tweet was accompanied by an image of a car crash that was actually taken at the site of Paul Walker’s fatal accident in 2013. The tweet has now been deleted since Beyoncé is NOT dead.
Gossip Cop has confirmed that the singer is very alive and very well.
