Big Sean on Ariana Grande and Relationships: ‘It’s Never About Egos’
In his latest interview with GQ, the rapper, whose relationship with “Problem” crooner was confirmed last October after months of speculation, spills about his love life. Admitting that he’s “more of a relationship type of guy,” Big Sean
throws some shade at ex-fiancée Naya Rivera opens up about what he finds “most attractive” about his current girlfriend.
“I’m not the type of guy to be all up in the clubs or shit. I’d rather be with someone and do something productive together,” he says. “I’m getting older, so we gotta, like, learn something. We can’t let the Internet fry our brains. We’ve gotta read and learn.”
He adds, “The thing I find most attractive is a woman with her own drive and own goals. It’s never about egos. It’s just about what we share — that focus. When you have someone that understands what you’ve got going on, it’s awesome.”
Big Sean also confirms that his new album, Dark Sky Paradise, will touch on previous failed relationships. The latest track leaked online, titled “Research” that features Grande on vocals, is suspected to be about an unnamed ex
that, again, may or may not be Rivera.
“It is darker than any album I’ve ever done. And I went through some dark times just like we all do, with relationships, personal relationships, romantic relationships, creatively,” he says. “I feel like I had to dig myself out of a hole creatively and bounce back hard.”
