FYI: Noel Gallagher Is Not a Swiftie

Lady Gaga is a Swiftie (Maybe)
Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift exchange cute compliments via Twitter.

If you were busy fussing over #TheDress, those llamas or Ryan Gosling’s maybe new tattoo, chances are you missed Noel Gallagher’s surprisingly entertaining interview with Rolling Stone from last week.

It’s quite all right, especially if you’re not a member of the ever powerful Swiftie clan. If you are, then you have every right to pick a bone with the former Oasis frontman. It all began when the reporter, Simon Vozick-Levinson brought up the Grammys and pop music. Naturally, those topics led to Taylor Swift and well, here’s what went down:

What about Taylor Swift? She’s a pop star, but many people praise her talent as a songwriter.
[Laughs] Who says that? Her parents?

Lots of people.
Who’s “people”? Name these people. You’re fucking lying. She seems like a nice girl, but no one has ever said those words, and you fucking know it.

Someone send Gallagher a copy of 1989 (preferably with the bonus demo tracks) stat.

Elsewhere in the Rolling Stone chat, Gallagher said pop music would be a “milky brown” color, declared his dislike of Alt-J because “one of them’s got a mustache,” and picks on One Direction because of, once again, that songwriting thing.

“I know Harry Styles. We’ve hung out a couple of times. They’re lovely lads. But I’ve got to say, I have difficulties with people who don’t write their own songs, who’ve got a team of songwriters who work for your record label,” according to Gallagher.

When the reporter points out that 1D actually co-write their material and that several Motown legends worked with teams of songwriters, Gallagher had none of it.

“If you’re trying to insinuate that what’s going on now is akin to what was going on at Motown — what, were you out late eating magic mushrooms? Not equivalent. Not in the slightest.”
