Julianne Moore Really Hates E!’s Mani Cam
Note to reporters: Don’t expect Julianne Moore to indulge you in any of your red carpet shenanigans.
Despite earning praise from fashion critics throughout this year’s awards season, the Oscar winner has a certain disdain for talking about her style to the press. Moore, who famously shut down Maria Menounos when the E! correspondent asked her to participate in the network’s infamous manicure camera at the 2015 SAG Awards, says she’s not a fan of the whole schtick.
“I’m 54 years old,” the actress tells Harper’s Bazaar’s April issue. “I can’t make my fingers walk; it’s humiliating! And a guy asked me to lift up my skirt to show them my shoes, and I said, ‘I don’t need to do that. Let’s keep some dignity.'”
Though she won’t be posing for the Mani Cam or Glam Cam 360, Moore admits that she still puts thought into the red carpet looks.
“My style has gotten better, hopefully,” she admits. “It’s like everything — practice makes perfect. There was one year when my kids were little, and every time I was photographed, I was wearing a pair of cargo shorts, a t-shirt, and a bandanna. It was so bad, my publicist was like, ‘Get it together!’”
As for getting red carpet ready? The Still Alice star confesses that she partakes in a little calories counting now and then.
“We’d all be lying if we said we aren’t watching what we eat,” she says. “Of course we are! I think we’re also really stressed. I’m not a stress eater. I get nervous and I don’t eat.”
She adds, “But, you know, I had a dress on the other day, and I said to my manager, ‘When you see my back fat sticking out, tuck it back in! Be a friend!’”
