Robert Durst, possible murderer and star of the HBO docu-series, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, has been arrested in New Orleans, LA for the 2000 murder of his close friend, writer Susan Berman.

The story of the infamous New York real-estate heir has been getting stranger and more suspicious with every episode of The Jinx, a Serial-esque miniseries that’s captured the attention of the public like wildfire.

Coincidentally, the season finale of The Jinx will be aired tonight, and prior to his arrest yesterday, we were all hoping it would come with some resolution to Durst’s cunning and seemingly disturbing way of evading conviction for a number of murders.

That’s right, Durst seems to be involved in not just one mysterious murder cases, but three (his first wife Kathleen Durst, Berman, and his Galveston, Texas neighbor, Morris Black).

However, now his story might actually, tangibly be coming to a head. No doubt the 71-year-old is having second thoughts about telling his fascinating murder-mysteries through the HBO miniseries, allowing the public (and law enforcement) to become all the more privy to his rather bizarre, and unsettling, behavior and sketchy story.

Durst agreed to film it after seeing Andrew Jarecki’s 2010 film starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst All Good Things (a movie based loosely off of Kathleen’s disappearance).

Durst was arrested in New Orleans on Saturday (March 14, 2015), on an arrest warrant issued by Los Angeles County for first-degree murder charges surrounding Berman, who was found slain execution-style in her L.A. home around Christmas 2000.

After The Jinx premiered, Los Angeles investigators reopened Berman’s murder case, and now a key piece of evidence presented in the docu-series has been found linking Durst to her murder.

Berman was his confidante and spokesperson following the sudden disappearance of Durst’s first wife, Kathleen, in 1982 (of which many also consider him the prime suspect for). She was murdered around the time New York investigators reopened Kathleen Durst’s disappearance case, and was to be interviewed about it because she knew sensitive information pertaining to her mysterious disappearance.

Durst was charged with murder for Black in 2001, but he was famous acquitted for the murder (claiming self-defense), despite the fact that he jumped bail, was found in Pennsylvania for shoplifting a sandwich, and admitted to dismembering Black’s body as a way to hide it.

On Sunday, the millionaire was being held without bail at an initial hearing in magistrate court, and on Monday morning he is expected to appear again for an extradition hearing.

Could The Jinx have lead to Durst’s downfall?
