Celebrities Come Together to Celebrate the International Day of Happiness: Listen to Their Favorite Mood-Boosting Songs!

Happy International Day of Happiness, everyone!

The United Nation has marked our calendars on this special day to help us remember that today (and every day) we should make happiness our goal, enlisting celebrities like Cody Simpson, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX and more to help spread the word with “the world’s happiest playlist.”

John Legend's Charitable Collaboration
Sam Smith and John Legend team up for charity.

Celebrities helped add to the playlist — curated by MixRadio — by contributing their own happiest track and revealing the songs that make them smile.

Legend says, “‘Got to Give It Up’ by Marvin Gaye is so infectious and fun,” while Simpson takes a different route, adding his go-to perk-up: “Mambo No. 5″ by Lou Bega.

The UN’s ultimate hope is to remind people that “the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal,” and as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says, to use “the universal language of music to show solidarity with the millions of people around the world suffering from poverty, human rights abuses, humanitarian crises, and the effects of environmental degradation and climate change.”
