Here’s the Wedding Gown Sophie Hunter Wore to Marry Benedict Cumberbatch
Here comes the bride — in her custom-made couture wedding dress, of course.
Notoriously private couple Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have finally given fans a glimpse into their surprise nuptials, showing off the bride’s one-of-a-kind wedding dress in the latest issue of Vogue.
While gowns like Hunter’s normally take six months to complete, Valentino’s Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli is said to have only finished the stunning creation in only three months. Decked in unconventional silver lace, empire-line dress features a high neckline, long sleeves and intricate details of vines and pomegranates.
Hunter says of her dress, “It feels very much of nature, and it’s so detailed and extraordinary that I’m still trying to get my head around how beautiful it is.”
“When two people meet and it’s the right combination, it does ground you suddenly,” she adds about her relationship with the Sherlock actor.
Hunter, 37, wed Cumberbatch, 38, in a private ceremony at St. Peter & St. Paul Church on the Isle of Wight on Feb. 12. The couple, who are currently expecting their first child together, then threw a lavish reception for close friends and family on Valentine’s Day.
The two reportedly spent their honeymoon in Tahiti and Bora Bora following awards season.
