Kelly Clarkson on Weight Criticism: ‘We Are Who We Are’
Let Kelly Clarkson’s powerful words inspire you once again.
On Friday’s Ellen, the “Heartbeat Song” singer opens up about the recent criticism concerning her weight. (Click here for a refresher on that awful episode involving a British journalist).
According to Clarkson, the criticism actually comes off as a surprise.
“I love how people think that’s new,” she says on the show, airing Friday (Apr. 3, 2015). “Like, welcome to the past 13 years.”
Clarkson, who gave birth to her adorable daughter River Rose last June, says she’s more concerned about how it affects her fans.
“I think what hurts my feelings for people is that I’ll have a meet and greet after a show and a girl who’s like bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, ‘Oh god, if they think you’re big I must be so fat to them.’ And it’s like, you’re just who you are. We are who we are. Whatever size… and it doesn’t mean that we’re going to be that forever.”
Never change, Ms. Clarkson. Never change.
