Beyonce’s Mom Says Blue Ivy Convinced Her to Marry Again
Blue Ivy Carter may only be three years old, but she’s already trying to get people to marry like your relatives during Christmas dinner.
According to Tina Knowles, the spawn of Beyoncé and Jay Z was the one who convinced her to wed actor Richard Lawson. In a new interview with People, Queen Bey’s mama remembered the moment she started thinking about marriage with her beau of two years, explaining that the celebri-tot definitely had a part in getting the conversation started.
Recalling an interaction the three had while vacationing last September, Knowles said Blue kept asking them when they’ll walk down the aisle together.
“Richard said, ‘Oh, Blue, soon. Do you approve?’ And she said yes. That’s the first time we talked seriously about getting married,” Knowles told the publication[via the Daily Mail].
“There was a time when I doubted if I would find love again,” she continued, referring to her divorce from Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, in 2011. “But I was determined to be happy, and God sent somebody into my life. You can find love at any age. You just have to go for it.”
Knowles, 61, and Lawson, 68, wed on April 12 aboard a private yacht near Newport Beach, Calif. Aside from daughters Beyonce and Solange, other famous guests in attendance included Samuel L. Jackson and former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
“It couldn’t have been more perfect,” Knowles said of the nuptials.
“Beyonce started it, and then Kelly and Solange had all-white weddings,” she added of the wedding’s color scheme. “It’s just elegant, and white represents the purity of love.”
